13th Annual Utah
Wild Horse & Burro Festival
Salt Lake County Equestrian Park
May 20 & 21, 2010

WELCOME and THANK YOU for your interest in the 13th Annual Utah Wild Horse and Burro Festival.  The festival committee is committed to make each festival better than the year before.  Stay tuned for a festival update!!!

The primary goal of this horse show is to learn and have fun. Another goal is to give you the opportunity to demonstrate what a wild horse can accomplish when given proper care and training.  This is a BLM wild horse, burro and mule show requiring all animals to have a US BLM Freeze Mark and proof of Certificate of Title or Adoption Papers.

Adoption:  The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will have 5 select halter/saddle started and 30 ungentled wild horses plus 6 burros available for adoption.  They can be viewed starting Friday at noon in the outdoor arena with an adoption being held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.  All animals will be available for adoption on a First Come, First Served basis for $125.00, then Adopt-a-Buddy for $25.00  for all qualified adopters.  Contact the Salt Lake Wild Horse & Burro Center for more information about the adoption and an application toll-free 877-224-3956.

Facilities:  Salt Lake County Equestrian Park , 10800 South 2200 West, South Jordan (10600 exit from I-15).  We are very excited to be once again hosting this year’s Festival at such an outstanding facility. Our show will be held in the impressive and spacious indoor arena. The arena holds 3000 people with 250 nearby stalls. A large parking area is available for overnight stays. No RV hookups are available.  Reminder: the Salt Lake County Equestrian Park does not allow any animals to be tied to trailers overnight in the parking areas. You must use the facility stalls for overnight boarding. See stall information below.

Sponsors and Exhibitors are Welcome:   The fee for a 10' X 10' space this year will be waived for all vendors. Bulk space is also available.   Call Gus Warr at 801.539.4057 for more information and an exhibitor packet.

Lodging:  There are numerous hotels nearby along I-15, particularly at the 7200 S and 10600 S exits.

Stallions/Intact Jacks:  Stallions and Intact Jacks are allowed to participate in the show as long as their handler is 18 years or older. If at any time the stallion or “intact” Jack becomes disobedient, the Committee reserves the right to remove the animal and handler from the show without being liable for compensation or damages.

Volunteers:  We can always use extra help with the clinics, gates, barns, parking, etc. If interested, please call Janet Tipton at 801.554.4431.

Pets:   For safety reasons, we ask that you please not bring pets.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the 13th Annual Utah Wild Horse and Burro Festival!
